I look forward to some meaningful conversation and discussion!

Hey guys,
I noticed that this blog recently went from a personal blog to a group blog. Can you guys give some background on yourselves? I’m just curious how you all know each other; it seems you’re from the same denomination and at least Joe knows about IHOP (I don’t know any other organization that uses the term “bridal paradigm”).
That’s all!

Hopefully we agree murder is an immoral act and must be punished. But what of God asking Abraham to kill his one and only son? Was God not being immoral in asking Abraham to do something immoral?
This question has been raised by philosophers and atheist alike.
I’ve discussed this question with quite a few people, but I would really like to have answers in black and white. May God bless the wisdom of the saints.
Pat,
The answer to your question is in the definition of murder.
Murder: The unlawful killing of one human by another.
Because God is the creator of life, it is not unlawful for God to take life or require another to take life. There are numerous examples of the this in the Old Testament.
It is also not immoral for God to take life or require it of another due to the fact that as sinners death is what we all deserve. No matter what the method is that God choses to deliver this due penalty, its justified.
All life belongs to God and is his to do with as he pleases.
Ownership rights if you will. Thanks be to God for his rich grace and mercy!!!

Reading the post on meekness got me wondering. Jesus was meek yet God the Father does not appear to be. Yet Jesus is God. Do they share the same attributes? Is God meek? We should strive to be like Jesus, and try and be like God? God is selfcentered, and is the only being that is justifiably so. God is jealous. We shouldn’t be. ect… What are the difference between Jesus and God?
Just rambling. I have never thought about the difference. Any comments?
I think off the top of my head i would say Jesus and God have the same attributes but they are exhibited differently. For example, I would think God the father has the capability of being meek but in fulfilling His role as ordainer being self-centered is obviously the best was to glorify Himself. In the same sense, Jesus’ role was to be the suffering servant, so humility and meekness were the best means for Jesus to glorify Himself. Also I do not recall a verse in the bible that tells us to be “like the Father”. I believe God told us to imitate Jesus for a reason because He is our perfect example of how to live a human life. However, God the Father is not human in anyway so attributes that He as an all-knowing, all-powerful being He is solely entitled to. Its kinda like how the government has certain rights that individuals don’t. The government has to have those rights to maintain order. I believe it is the same with the Father.
Now please keep in mind this is completely off the top of the dome, so do not critique to harshly. I do believe this questions calls for deeper meditation, but I just wanted to throw out my initial thoughts with hope of getting a dialogue going. God bless.
